The University of Arizona seeks applicants for a post-doctoral research scientist in the fields of Geodesy and Geodynamics. The candidate will explore the relationship between Earth’s gravity field and changes in the solid Earth by using a combination of numerical geodynamic experiments and analysis of satellite gravimetry. This position is available for one year, with a possibility for renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. This position is located in Tucson, Arizona

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Numerically model aspects of Earth’s mantle dynamics.
  • Analyze gravity field models and other satellite data sets.
  • Prepare programming code resulting from work for public release.
  • Prepare scientific journal submissions in collaboration with other investigators, and give oral presentations of research findings at peer meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants should have a PhD in Geodesy, Geodynamics, Geophysics, Seismology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer applicants who possess: (a) a good understanding of the relationship between Earth’s gravity and mantle dynamics, (b) the ability to model and analyze aspects of mantle dynamics.
