Position Summary

This is a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in molecular cancer research. The selected individual is expected to conduct molecular biology experiments in the field of DNA repair.

Our lab investigates the role of ubiquitin pathway in DNA double strand break repair, and the impact of this pathway on carcinogenesis and chemotherapy resistance. (Biol Chem. 2014 May 16;289(20): 14009-19. J Biol Chem. 2014 Aug 15;289(33):22739-48).

The selected individual is expected to be a team-worker and multi-tasked. A background in DNA repair is preferred but not required. This individual will maintain cell culture, and perform DNA, RNA and protein work.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic field of research and have the drive to stay updated with the literature.
  • Maintain human cell culture lines and perform biological experiments such as siRNA and plasmid transfection.
  • Perform protein analysis work including IP and western blot.
  • Ability to clone genes into a variety of vectors.
  • Express human proteins and isolate them from bacteria.
  • Perform PCR and RT-PCR analysis.
  • Maintain and order lab supplies and reagents from vendors.
  • Assemble and analyze data in scientific format and be familiar with Microsoft office software (excel, etc).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD and/or MD degree and/or Pharm.D degree in related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with molecular biology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in DNA repair or cancer research is a plus.
