Position Summary

The Pediatrics Department at the University of Arizona seeks candidates for the Lindholm Endowed Chair position in the division of Medical and Molecular Genetics. This position is open to scientists with an international reputation in research scholarship and education in the field of molecular genetics. The successful candidate will lead the research program in the broadly defined field of genetics of metabolic or immune disorders with a focus on genetics, mechanisms, models and/or therapy.

Research is conducted through the Steele Children’s Research Center—one of fourteen centers of excellence at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. In this state-of-the-art facility, internationally known scientists and physicians research the causes of and develop cures for childhood illnesses and diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and continue to develop an extramural funded research program.
  • Participate in the activities of the Steele Children’s Research Center.
  • Collaborate with faculty who has extensive extramural funded activities in basic and translational research, including participation of graduate students with the Immunobiology, Physiological Sciences or related PhD programs.
  • Help promote professional development among existing faculty.
  • Attract and retain highly motivated and well qualified faculty, staff and students to the Center.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or MD/PhD or PhD.
  • A sustained record of peer reviewed publications and research funding.
  • Evidence of academic productivity with strong publication record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership of a successful and relevant research program.
  • National and preferably international recognition in the field of genetics, immunogenetics or closely related discipline.
  • Established expertise working with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues, and experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
