Position Summary

The Farm Attendant, Senior position will assist in the general functioning of the laboratory, greenhouse and various research projects.

The hours may fluctuate from minimal to 40 hours per week and employment is less than 20 weeks. Benefits do not apply to this position.

This position is located at the Maricopa Agricultural Center, 37860 W. Smith-Enke Rd, Maricopa, AZ 85238, which is approximately 90 miles from Tucson, AZ.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collecting various research data in cotton research projects.
  • Perform insect sampling methods including the use of sweep-nets, general visual inspections, use of field hand lenses and inspections of plant material under a microscope.
  • Identifying and collecting growth stage-specific plant tissue samples in cotton.
  • Identification of primary cotton pests and predators in-field and in a lab using a microscope.
  • Research data entry.
  • Leading field research crews as instructed by a research scientist.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess effective communication skills.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Two years of farm work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Possession of a current Arizona Type D driver’s license upon employment.
