Position Summary

Pima County Cooperative Extension within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking on-call childcare providers. These are part-time, temporary, and non-benefits eligible positions.

The childcare providers will instruct children ages 0-12 during workshops and programs in order for the parents to attend and focus on program content. Some classes will meet just once. Other classes may be part of a weekly series that meets 3-8 times. While settings may vary, our intent is always to offer a safe, secure, private climate-controlled location in which there are toys and books to entertain the children.

Weekly hours will vary from 0-8 hours per week depending upon the number of classes offered weekly.

Ideal candidates will be willing to engage children in silly games that promote their creativity and development.

Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance. Candidates will be assigned to one of three work bases: Tucson, Vail, or Green Valley/Sahuarita coinciding with current residence (subject to change). Will reimburse mileage for services outside of employee’s work base.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Managing a group of 1-25 children aged 0-8 during 1.5 to 2 hour classes in order for the children’s parents to attend and focus on the program or workshop content.
  • Utilizing supplies and activities provided or developing new age-appropriate activities to engage children and their learning.

Minimum Qualifications

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

One year of instructional aide or related experience (including working with children of varying ages 0-12 years old); OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant educational and/or professional background in early childhood development, child care, or related field.
