Currently, the Department of Immunobiology is seeking applicants for the position of Research Technician in the Ahmad Lab. This challenging position requires motivation and the ability for great organizational skills. A high level of enthusiasm, confidentiality and dedication are hallmarks of the ideal candidate. The successful applicant will possess the desire to work on viral and immunological factors in HIV-infected aging patients.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Isolate mononuclear cells from HIV-infected patients’ blood, prepare genomic DNA, perform PCR, clone PCR products, screen for recombinants and prepare DNA for sequencing.
  • Propagate mononuclear cells for HIV culture, perform HIV assays, maintain cell lines and primary cells in culture and prepare and label cells for flow cytometry.
  • Maintain lab supplies.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
