Position Summary

The Department of Pharmacology’s mission is to provide quality preclinical and clinical education in pharmacology and therapeutics for medical students, to educate and train graduate and postdoctoral biomedical scientists, to carry out basic research of recognized excellence, and to participate in governance and leadership in the College of Medicine at The University of Arizona and in appropriate national scientific and professional societies.

The ideal Research Technician candidate must have experience in techniques related to handling of live animals, in performing in vivo behavioral assays, in stereotaxic surgery, and data analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform in vivo behavioral assays.
  • Complete stereotaxic surgery.
  • Complete data analysis.
  • Independently review professional literature.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with stereotaxic surgery of live animals.
  • Experience with in vivo behavioral assays.
  • Experience working in a pharmacology laboratory working with basic science laboratory equipment.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work across project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of IACUC protocol preparation.
  • Experimental design expertise.
  • Ability to analyze data including statistical tests and to design experiments.
