A Research Specialist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. R. Khanna for performing behavioral, biochemical, and molecular studies related to ion channel signaling in chronic pain and neurodegenerative diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Biochemistry – Western blot, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, etc.
  • Immunohistochemistry – Perfusing and cutting tissues and antibody labeling and microscopy.
  • Behavioral studies – Rodent handling, performing minor surgeries.
  • Supervising and training undergraduate students.
  • Performing general lab maintenance and ordering.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • Experience in small animal handling and some surgeries.
  • Experience with lab management.
  • Strong work ethic and an interest in developing independent research projects.
